Just a heads up, I'm at full capacity with client's at the moment and I'm taking a break from posting on my own Social Media.
I will still respond to DMs. I will also be working on some new content marketing behind the scenes to help my audience. So you may not see a grid post for a little while, that's where I'll be. 💙

It is #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek and I've learned

It is #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek and I've learned massively over the last few years that I definitely need to work harder to look after my mental health and make it a priority. It is very much a work in progress.
I took part in i-act Mental Health Training a good few months ago and I learned so much about my own triggers and how I can help myself as well as support others in part of my work, I undertake with a client.

I wanted to share my tips with you and how I can spot my own triggers when depression and anxiety are creeping in. I hope it helps someone reading this post.

I have bouts of anxiety and depression and I used to take anti-depressants.

I now have to focus on:
- a Balanced Diet
- minimal Cafefine
- Next to zero Alcohol (currently sober curious)
- Exercise
- Being outside
- Check in with myself - and step back and reflect on my mood.
- Using apps like Calm, Headspace and Worry Time.

When I start to notice:
- I am not concentrating on tasks or
- start to feel unorganised
- Very tired
- Easily irritated

I find that making a list of how to organise things that are bothering me helps, and then I can get those things done or ask for help in getting them done.
Sometimes it's just a good cry in the bath to realise I can give myself a moment and forgive myself for being a bit off.
Sometimes it's taking time out and doing something like read a book or watch a film.
I have found Tapping and Mindfulness really useful and also writing my thoughts, worries, and feelings in a journal.

I try to get outside every day for just a walk. I try to give myself an hour a day where I can listen to music or a podcast and just walk to clear my mind and notice what is going on outside. Take in some nature.

I am always working on reframing my negative thoughts too. When I feel like this is happening I push myself to flip negatives on their head. It's also taken me a long time to understand that I am not my anxiety and I am not my depression. These are parts of me and do not define me and the person I am.

Remember - You are not alone. Ask for help and give yourself permission to do so.
